In addition to providing much-valued support to meetings that provide the wwPDB guidance, such as the Advisory Committee and the Ligand Validation Workshop, the wwPDB Foundation organizes events and activities:

• Biophysical Society: The wwPDB Foundation awarded Irin Pottanani Tom (University of Illinois at Chicago) for her poster Mechanisms of Light Signalling and Allosteric Regulation in Dual Sensor Photoreceptor PPHK.

2023

• The Biophysical Society Japan (November 14-16, Nagoya, Japan): wwPDB Foundation made awards for outstanding student presentations to Keisuke Kasahara (Univ. Tokyo), Kyle Ian Peter Le Huray (University of Leeds), and Katsuhiko Minami (Sōkendai)
• IUCr: the wwPDB Foundation supported wwPDB activities at the 26th General Assembly and Congress of the International Union of Crystallography (IUCr) in Melbourne, Australia from August 22-29, including a Poster Prize to Akila Pilapitiya (La Trobe University) and Liliana Guerrero (The City University of New York)
• Protein Society Poster Prize (July 13-16, Boston, MA): wwPDB Foundation made awards to Taylor M. Laflamme (Clark University) and Kevin Ramirez (University of California Merced)
• Poster Prize Awarded at #DiscoverBMB to undergraduate Michael Quinteros (Wesleyan University) for "The mitochondrial Cu+ transporter PiC2 (SLC25A3) is a target of MTF1 and contributes to the development of skeletal muscle in vitro"

The inaugural event sponsored by the wwPDB Foundation was the a unique meeting was held at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the PDB in 2011. PDB40's distinguished speakers described structural biology's past as well as current research in related fields. Close to 100 posters were presented. Travel awards were made for 35 early career scientists from around the world.
